The battery seemed to get a favorable review so I ordered it in November 2009. The instructions were clear, although I agree the screwdriver didn't fit. I've done the replacement before, so it was very straightforward.
However, it's now July 2010 and the battery will not hold more than a 30 percent charge. I read e-books on my commute and my Zire 72 won't even last through the 25 minute ride! Unfortunately, I'm 25 days past their 200 day warranty, so I'm out of luck. I emailed the merchant, but they're sticking by their warranty. Needless to say, I'm not at all happy or satisfied with the battery!
Late July: I just want to add a follow-up to my review. I received another email from customer service and they agreed to send me a new battery at no charge; I haven't installed it yet, but they indicated that this is an improved battery over the previous model. They continued to follow up to make sure I was satisfied. I was pleasantly surprised and very happy to get the replacement battery.
Customer service was very responsive to my needs and I'm happy I can continue to read books on my Zire 72!

The battery died after three months of light use. Installation was not for beginners, if you are expecting a good Torx driver, save your money. Home Depot has great small Torx sets for under $5.00. When installing remove the sticker on the back of the Palm first. Remove the Phillips screw and the metal cover plate to get to two main Phillips screws. Watch the clear plastic light pipe for the charging indicator, it will drop out when you pry the case open. The front screen will unplug from the motherboard by lifting the ribbon cable from the front screen.
When My battery failed,the screen went crazy, then black. Pulling the battery connection then restoring brought the screen back to life. If you need to replace the screen, snap the stylus sleeve up and out to unlock the screen.

I am not totally happy with this battery pack. I can't say if the battery is good, since the tools sent with the product do not fit the Zire 72 that I have. Also, there were no installation instructions. There was no tool included to assist in opening the case. Generally, I guess you get what you pay for. Obviously, for this product, I didn't pay much. Shipping was quick.

I've got to be honest, I haven't used this battery yet. I have been waiting for the proper time to dive into this project. The batteries look great and spec out a little stronger than the original. I'll try to follow up when I change the battery out.
You'd better have a soldering gun and a lot of skill if you buy this January 3, 2010

It was much cheaper than sending my Palm Zire in to have the battery replace at $75; however, my husband had a bit of difficulty installing and he is an electronics repair whiz!
Important to know--this is a smaller size than the original battery but it does work properly. Also, the old battery was glued in! Don't buy this if you are not extremely confident and willing to try anything.
