The tools alone are worth the price of this package even without the battery. I have the iPhone 3GS, but without really knowing whether the 3G battery would work in my 3GS, I purchased and tried it. The 3G battery does not work in the 3GS iPhone. My sons both have 3G iPhones, so I will use it in one of their iPhones when needed. By the way, I did contact the seller who confirmed via e-mail that the 3G battery is not compatible with the 3GS. The seller's youtube video with step by step instructions for replacing the battery is great. My 14 year old son did the battery switch using the tools from this kit and the video. He had no trouble. The first replacement took about 30 minutes to take it slow and follow the video from disassembly to reassembly. After getting a 3GS battery, the whole replacement process took my son 10 minutes. Don't be afraid to replace your iPhone battery yourself. Make sure you get a battery that doesn't have to be soldered in as some have wire leads that require this (unless you have a solder iron and are familiar with these steps). The 3GS battery I purchased did not work, so while I was waiting for a new battery to be sent from the supplier, I had my son re-install my original iPhone battery which was losing a charge very rapidly before taking it out (was only lasting an hour after full charge). Upon re-installing my original battery (which only took 10 minutes for the whole replacement process again), my iPhone is holding a charge for 2-3 days now. Can't explain this, but now I have no reason to put in the 2nd 3GS battery I was sent. I don't know if this replacement 3GS battery will work or not, but I have it if my original 3GS battery stops holding a charge again.

Honestly people i bought this and it was really dissapointing SAVE YOUR MONEY it won't help you... i'll start with the minor things first....
Firstly the screwdriver supplied with the kit will NOT fit all the screws..if you are planning on doing this yourself you will need a smaller screwdriver other than this one.
Many of the tools supplied arent used in the installation process...could have placed a pair of tweezers instead of all those unnecessary ones... you will need a pair of tweezers to help reconnect connector 3 in the re-assembly process.
NOW THE MAIN PROBLEM:
My Iphone battery was so bad i used to get around 8 hours of "STANDBY" time on a full charge...and if i used it to play games or do anything else around 3 hours maxx (thats on a fully charged battery) which is really pathetic. It needed to be replaced badly.So i bought this kit hoping that i would get my battery back up to standard...but be warned after all the trouble to install it...the new battery works almost the same as the old one ...THERE IS LITTLE OR NO IMPROVEMENT IN BATTERY LIFE...be warned this battery will not help you unless your iphone was worse than mine. My best advice try to source another or buy the battery from apple...which is alot more expensive.

As stated by others the Philips screw driver was too big. Fortunately I have a set of Jewelers screw drivers. Took about 30 minutes to disassemble and reassemble. The new battery lasts about 7-8hrs on a charge even while streaming pandora and various other online content. No documentation was included but WTF people Youtube it.

I replaced my iPhone 3G battery about two weeks ago using this kit. The battery life is good, but the tools, for the most part, are not the tools you need. I used the suction cup and threw away the rest. Here is what you need to do the job:
-A Phillips screwdriver, size #000. All of the screws in the iPhone 3G are the same size. Unfortunately, this kit comes with a Phillips #00--one size too big.
-The suction cup to pop out the screen
-A small flat screwdriver to unseat the ribbon connectors
That's it. The rest of the tools in the kit are pretty useless.
One other important note: try to get a magnetized Phillips #000 screwdriver. The screws are so tiny, there is no way to re-seat them by hand. Trust me, I spent about 30 minutes with a pair of tweezers trying to get one screw back into place and it still didn't work.
Here's an easy solution if you already have an non-magnetized #000 screwdriver: take a fairly strong magnet (refrigerator magnets probably won't work; I used the magnetized end of a Craftsman screwdriver--the kind with the interchangeable bits) and stroke in one direction along the non-magnetized screwdriver. This will impart a slight magnetic charge, which should be more than enough to hold the tiny iPhone screws.
Overall, it might be more economical to buy only the battery and to find a suction cup and the screwdrivers at a hardware store or a major retail chain.
