The replacement works perfect, If you feel comfortable taking your iPod apart you should not have any problem, also there is plenty video tutorials to help you on doing the replacement.
So far is working great I have not have any problem with it.

if your i pod headphones don't work, i would strongly recommend purchasing these. they are very easy to install and sound great, and they are much cheaper than buying them through another website where they go for around 35 dollars, so if you're looking to save money on a do it yourself repair, this would definitely be my first stop.

I dropped my iPod which caused the headphone jack to intermittently work on only one side. I was resigned to pay whatever it would cost to fix at the Apple store, but I googled "replace headphone jack ipod' and found many videos that provide good instruction on how to do it yourself. I had never opened my iPod before.
This headphone jack arrived within 3 days. Great service.
The insides of the iPod are easy to figure out but all parts are tiny as expected. You must have a jewelers number '0" Phillips head screwdriver to do the work, but that's it for tools. The screws are difficult and took the most time, but the connections are simple and they are held down with tabs.
Maybe I was just excited to get the iPod working properly again, but I had the same experience that others here mentioned -- this headphone jack seems to sound better with smoother bass and better separation.
Highly recommended if you are at all handy!

part came with small tools to open the ipod and to remove the tiny screw the screwdriver was actually magnetized which was great because the screws are absolutely tiny i actually lost one of them while opening the ipod but there was one actually stuck to the new part so i lucked out i guess with that... otherwise this part made an ipod i got for free work like one i could have spent over $100 for needless to say i would recommend this part to just about anyone. also i managed to switch the part out in less than 20 minutes like most other people who have commented.... there was one drawback though, the part for opening the ipod broke on me but thankfully it was after i had gotten it most of the way open otherwise my thumb nails are just long enough and strong enough for me to open this ipod by hand... all in all a good buy

very easy to install, the only issue that I found was the hold/lock button no longer works. This was not an issue for me, just having sound in both ears was all i was lookikng for. product arrived very quickly, and I saved over $50 on repair by doing it myself.
