I really like this docking station. It works really good. It lets you enjoy you ipod music thru your stereo system. It sounds great.
 Disappointing Product August 8, 2010

The Homedock was great when it worked. Unfortunately, I spent more time trying to get it to work than getting any decent use out of it. It ceased to work with any of the iPods in our family assortment, and is now only good for charging.
In case you're interested, the issues were just that it would not playback. Many times the remote would indicate that it was "out of range" when it was an inch away. I would try resetting it, and reseating iPods, and checking stereo wires, etc. Every now and then, we would get music out of it, but not often enough.

I received this HomeDock for a Christmas present from my girlfriend and loved the idea. Conceptually having a wireless remote control/iPod sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately it never works correctly! The first device I got would give me an 'out of range' error code every 3rd or 4th time I tried to change the track, playlist, etc. This grew more frustrating as the problem seemed to happen more and more frequently over the first 2 months I owned it. After returning my original HomeDock the same 'out of range' error kept occurring, so I just learned to accept it. 12 months later the entire base station lost it's connectivity! I would attempt to put my iPod in the dock, but it would not 'connect' in the dock, no matter how I manipulated the iPod. I contacted DLO/Philips about the issues I was having and they would do nothing about and blew me off! I even provided documentation of the issues I was having, but they dismissed them and said "sorry". DON'T PURCHASE THIS PIECE OF JUNK! It's a great idea, but horrible product!

One of the problems of finding an appropriate dock for an individuals particular situation are the horrible reviews and lack of basic information available making it virtually impossible to make an informed decision. All I wanted was a dock to allow a direct hook-up of my ipod to my stereo receiver. That's all. I basically narrowed it down to this DLO and the radio shack version. Are there better docks out there for this purpose? I don't know. Even the Apple website doesn't give enough info on their dock! I don't get it. I had to painstakingly read multiple reviews by individuals to find the info I cared about. Eventually I chose this DLO dock. Hope this one helps you:
What I like: 1. It allows for the direct hook-up from the ipod to the receiver which, of course, is far superior to using the headphone jack. 2. The way my ipod sits in the base is pretty solid as it comes with a simple, but effective, adjustment. 3. The remote is "user friendly" and it turned out to be a much bigger plus than I thought. 4. Most importantly, the sound quality is very good. 5. It charges the ipod.
What I didn't like: 1. I don't like the fact there is a volume control on the remote. This allows manipulation of the signal to the receiver and I would strongly prefer a clean signal. (I always keep the volume maxed out and only use the receiver to control volume). 2. It would be nice if the default setting would be to allow use of the ipod directly. As it is now, if the remote craps out and it has not been set for direct ipod use, the base becomes useless. 3. The remote downloads lists of the artists and songs but it has limited memory so those you with huge data bases lose out.
The conclusion: It's an awfully nice addition to my stereo set-up. The fact that the sound quality is very good, the ipod is always fully charged and the remote makes it so nice to change what's being listened to I would have to say I recommend the thing. As long as you're aware of the limitations, I would be surprised if you'd be disappointed.

I thought at this price this would be a cool little gadget. It is not. 2 hours of "working" with it and i can't get the remote to work at all. Sometimes it just times out with "out of range" while the remote is 6in from the iPod. The dock charges my iPod and I figured out how to make it work without the remote (instructions say that is not possible). So, if you want a CHEAP docking station that charges your iPod but you have to manually (from the iPOD wheel) select playlists, artists, songs...then this is for you.
