This is a great replacement battery for my Dell Inspiron 1525. The retail cost was only $36. I paid nothing as I was redeeming a gift card and qualified for Amazon's free shipping. On top of that, the battery came within the quoted shipping time frame.
Even if I had to pay out of pocket, this is still a great deal as Dell brand replacements retail for over $100. Yes, as the other reviewers mentioned, this 9 volt battery does stick out a bit, but I don't mind as my laptop case can accommodate the excess and now I get over 5 hours of battery life.
So far, so good. Thanks, Amazon!

So here are the details of my experience:
- Replaced a Dell Inspiron 1525 (running Windows 7) (6) Cell Laptop Battery with this purchase
- Mainly use my laptop for web browsing, the occasional Netflix and Media Storage and transfer.
- Amount Paid $47.99 + S&H $6.95
- Purchased from 'BrainyDeal'
So when I first got this battery replacement i was very pleased, the price was considerably lower than purchasing a new OEM Dell 9 Cell Battery, The charge time was about the same and it lasted for about 3 ½ hours rather than my original 2 max.
About 3-4 months into using this battery, I was only getting about 2 hours from this battery, about the same as what original 6 Cell Dell battery.
And now, 6 months later, this battery won't hold a charge on its own for more than an hour and a half.

7.21.10 I had my computer on idle after I got off work, decided to see how long it was really lasting with only background system applications going, no music, no DVD's, no websites.
1:11 am - Full charge, took out the charge cable
2:12 am - about %50 battery power left
2:30 am - ...12% left
2:36 am - .....7% left! (Please change power source notification from windows 7 pops up)
In short, I would not recommend risking this item. Some people may be pleased, but for $50+ I would just pay the extra and get a new battery directly from Dell.

i had ordered a battery from Dell but they screwed up the order and i was left without a functioning computer to take on a trip; this one arrived and works great; not sure why i originally was willing to pay 5 times as much thru dell; but i haven't used it much yet, so hard to tell the life time of the battery

The battery fits my Inspiron 1525 laptop but its about an inch wider than Dell battery. This makes it stick out an inch from the back of my laptop.
